New missions in Levels 4 and up will focus on the escalating warfare between the Empires and factions.
Encourages colonization of low security, the higher population providing pirates with more, but tougher (capital-ship-driving-group-flying) pilots.
Slowly involves the "PvE" player in more "PvP" EVE activity.
1/ Killing off activities other than PvP is not going to stop inflation. Stopping macros and T2 BPO lotteries stops inflation. 2/ Enforcing roleplaying on the whole playerbase is extremely ftl. 3/ Forcing PvE players to die to PvP players will lead to cancelled subscriptions, not better population densities. 4/ See 1/, 2/ and 3/.
I know this might seem a bit rich coming from a Privateer but i'm very proud of my carebear roots. 750K lp with good old Lallencard...
Yup they dont hate mission runners, they hate PVErs and carebears it seems *looks around the restaurant then look at his mate* "I wouldnt be greatly surprised if a little band came in and started playing *hums the Star Wars Cantina theme*" |

Work together AND get occasionally ganked by pirates if they think they can still AFK mission running.

We're gonna have to defend this change from the whiners this summer though. I'm already getting my flame powers into practice in anticipation.
Exactly, this isnt a nerf to missions, this is a MASSIVE superpowered nerf bat to solo 'omggrindisksendpricesup' players in a MMOG. definate win win there.
I have had a nice eve-o forums rest and my flaming powers are reaching optimal just in time to slap down the whiners.
/flame on
Right, now what you do is buy the isk you want instead of grinding it. That fixes the inflation, just like it does in WoW... *looks around the restaurant then look at his mate* "I wouldnt be greatly surprised if a little band came in and started playing *hums the Star Wars Cantina theme*" |

Originally by: Ricar It's actually very simple question. How many people will quit if they implement this. Actually in every MMORPG there are heck many people, who are older then 16 and have a lot of RL commitments. So playing for half an hour a day is nice, and paying 15 bucks per month is negletable. However, if say 1000 of those "carebears" find particular game lame they quit, and that's -15 000 per month (not sure, if that's much for CCP). If 5000 to 10000 quit, then it's not a question of money, but a question of sociology. When herd moves, predators die out..
Ok, say they do this with the mission runners and start to phase out missioning as they are and forcing them to PVP. Whats next? Forcing miners into low sec (by mining out the belts like theyre doing). So then, youre forcing miners into PVP. And that might remove solo mining altogether once you can onmly mine in 0.0. That then affects the industrialists, as the miners stop mining. What do pirates do when all their "easy kills" stop doing what they do cause theyre being forced into PVP and 0.0? What you guys gonna do when CCP gets their wzay and this is a PVP only game? No miners, no industrialists, no researchers etc. just the PVPers as some people are claiming that this game is "supposed" to be? No more easy kills guys...

A few rare examples of the insightful forum dwellers have hit on exactly the point though: CCP are not forcing you to play the game a different way. Mission runners can currently make an obscene amount of isk for no risk whatsoever by running lvl 4s in highsec. Much of this isk appears out of thin air and merely causes inflation of the Eve economy.
I'd bet any sum you care to name that more isk appears from thin air in 0.0 by many orders of magnitude than from empire. Any sum. Complexes, rats, ores, etc -- it's just absurd to think otherwise.
Basically, you're either clueless about Eve, or stretching the rhetoric to make your flame more substantial.

What CCP are actually doing is encouraging you to enter lowsec for higher risk vs reward. If you still want to farm isk for no risk whatsoever, just stick to empire anyway.
And wrong again. Check with your developer buddies again, but what's actually being proposed is pretty different. They are dividing the level 4 missions, and moving the hardest -- and most rewarding -- ones to low-sec/0.0. That is a nerf to missions, clear and simple. It means the future of empire mission running is something a bit more than level *3* missions now. You can rant all you like about easy billions in those missions, but it still won't be true.

To those who want to quit because their precious free isk supply is being nerfed. Please do. I don't care, nobody else (apart from the other crying mission runners) cares and CCP most certainly don't care. You are in the minority, we've had this same round of whines on the forum accompanying every major change since Eve began. Guess what, Eve's subscriber count is still rising. Oh and can I have your stuff?
Nope.
Eve's subscriber base is rising? Woohoo -- nearly 30k logged in on some nights. When the base is so small, I guess it isn't that hard to show improvement, even after *4 years* of development. But when those 30k are dragged into 0.0 and forced to experience pvp there (gate camps and pos fighting ftl), I guess we'll see how just how much those numbers improve.
I realize you're BoB and all and only your style of play actually matters, but I have a feeling that a few at CCP have a little bigger vision for the game than what suits the good folks at Band of Brothers. I hope so, anyway.

Carebears try to "win eve" by whoring missions all day and never taking any risks at all.
Carebears like to play that way because the have fun with it. If you cant understand that, ok, no problem. But at minimum you should respect the way.
Pirates have a serious problem getting the fact that different people may think differently than them and might... just MIGHT not like to do what they like to do. Whats fun to a pirate MIGHT not be fun to a carebear and vice versa. WHY is that so hard to understand? I dont get it. *looks around the restaurant then look at his mate* "I wouldnt be greatly surprised if a little band came in and started playing *hums the Star Wars Cantina theme*" |
